November Recap

  • Stocks were positive, nearly across the board, during November. Stocks from emerging markets were the biggest exception, losing 3.6% during the month.

  • US small cap stocks, represented by the Russell 2000, led the way returning 11%.

  • All sectors were positive, but consumer discretionary and financials sectors were especially strong following November’s election results. Both sectors posted double-digit returns. Healthcare stocks lagged, returning just 0.7%

  • Bonds also performed well. Corporate bonds fared best, returning 1.3%.

  • The Federal Reserve lowered their target range by 0.25%. Long-term rates and short-term rates both moved marginally lower.

  • Bitcoin (not shown in the table below) hit new all-time highs, closing the month at over $97,000. The U.S. dollar continued to strengthen against most major currencies.
